Koiari Trek Leaders

Niugini Patrol Leaders

Adventure Kokoda Patrols are organised by a local PNG trekking company, Kokoda Experience Pty Ltd. The principal of the company is Alex Rama who has led more than 250 groups across Kokoda over the past 15 years.

Alex is from Naduri Village on the Kokoda Trail. He engages his Niugini 'wan-tok' brothers from villagers along the Trail to support Adventure Kokoda treks. This is an important safety factor in choosing to trek with them - they are in constant radio contact with each other and can seek immediate help in the event of an emergency.

Alex has trekked with Major Charlie Lynn since 1991 and together they have selected and trained Niugini Kokods Patrol Leaders for our patrols over the original wartime track - this is the route their fathers carried our wounded Diggers to safety during the Kokoda campaign.

Alex employs fellow Koiari and Orokaiva guides from villages along the track to assist on his treks. They know every step along the way and are truly 'masters of their environment.'
